Abramovich has owned Chelsea since the summer of 2003
Chelsea have denied Roman Abramovich is going to quit the club following his decision to shelve their stadium redevelopment plans.
On Thursday it was announced Chelsea had put their plans on hold for a £1billion redevelopment of Stamford Bridge as Abramovich has been denied a UK visa.
He is reportedly unwilling to put money into a country he is not allowed to work in, following a clampdown by the Home Office on individuals who hold what is known as a ‘golden visa’, which permits anyone who has invested more than £2m in the British economy to stay in the country for 40 months.
The stadium decision has led to suggestions Abramovich is ready to sell Chelsea, but The Times say this is not the case, with the west London club insisting the 51-year-old remains committed.
Chelsea face a hectic summer, with Antonio Conte expecting to be sacked and replaced by Maurizio Sarri of Napoli as manager, while a big squad overhaul is also set to take place.
