Chelsea v Manchester United: Alexis Sanchez could become first player to score in successive FA Cup finals

Alexis Sanchez scored for Arsenal against Chelsea in the 2017 FA Cup final

Chelsea v Manchester United in the 2018 FA Cup final is live on talkSPORT at 17:15 on Saturday 19 May.

Last year Arsenal won their 13th FA Cup when they beat Antonio Conte’s Chelsea 2-1 thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey.

Sanchez is now at Man United, having moved in January, and has the chance to become the first player to score in consecutive cup finals with different clubs.

The forward also scored in the 2015 final, with Olivier Giroud, now of Chelsea, also netting in the 4-0 win against Aston Villa. Only two players have scored for different sides in post-war FA Cup finals – Frank Stapleton (Arsenal and Man Utd) and Ian Wright (Crystal Palace and Arsenal).

Should United win, then Conte will be the first manager to lose consecutive FA Cup finals since Howard Kendall in 1985 and 1986.

Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, could become only the third manager to win the FA Cup with two different clubs, after Herbert Chapman (Huddersfield in 1922 and Arsenal in 1930) and Billy Walker (Sheffield Wednesday in 1935 and Nottingham Forest in 1959).
