Robbie Williams is one of a number of acts performing at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow
The first match of the 2018 World Cup is almost underway as hosts Russia take on Saudi Arabia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow – a game you can listen to LIVE on talkSPORT.
But before the festival of football begins there is the traditional opening ceremony that will officially welcome the world to the tournament.
What should we expect from the opening cermony?
According to FIFA, it will start about half an hour before the game kicks off at 16:00 UK time.
It will start with a very Russian feel to it with 500 dancers and a Russian-themed performance extravaganza.
Robbie Williams will then join the ceremony with the former Take That star being joined by celebrated Russian soprano Aida Garifullina.
Opera singer Placido Domingo – who soundtracked the iconic Italia 90 anthem alongside Luciano Pavorotti and Jose Carreras – is also booked in.
There will also be a concert held in the city’s famous Red Square concurrently with the opening ceremony.
And then the football can begin!
talkSPORT will be with listeners all day and all night at this year’s 2018 FIFA World Cup™ with over 800 hours of World Cup content and all 64 games live across the talkSPORT network.
