Zidane could earn £120k-a-day as Qatar boss

Zinedine Zidane is being lined as the next manager of the Qatar national team on a £50 million-a-year deal, according to reports.

The former Real Madrid walked away from the Champions League winners, just days after leading Los Blancos to their third successive European crown.

However, he may not be out of work for long if reports are to be believed.

Much like former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, the Frenchman is expected to take a sabbatical from football, but an offer of around £120,000-a-day could convince him to change his mind.

According to influential Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris, ‘Zizou’ will be offered a four-year deal by the Qatar Football Association to leave him £176 million richer by 2022.

Qatar is set to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, their first appearance at the tournament, so have already qualified automatically.

Despite their lucrative offer, it is believed Zidane has a host of offers on the table.

Chelsea are expected to make an approach for the 1998 World Cup winner, with Antonio Conte seemingly set to depart after two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

While Florentino Perez may not have known about Zidane’s surprise resignation, it has not stopped the Real president from reportedly identifying his next managerial target.

According to reports, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is the man Perez wants in the Santiago Bernabeu hot seat ahead of next season.
