New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings have been on a roll in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and it is because of their sublime show with the blade, the two-time champions sealed a place in the playoffs with games to spare.CSK have four players who have scored 300+ runs this season — Ambati Rayudu (535 runs), Shane Watson (424 runs), MS Dhoni (413 runs) and Suresh Raina (315 runs). No other team in the ongoing edition of the league has more players who have scored more than 300 runs.
Rayudu has been the top scorer for CSK so far and this is the 6th time in his IPL career that the right-hander has scored more than 300 runs in a single season. Whereas, this is the first time when he has crossed the 400-run barrier in the cash-rich league.
However, despite his rich vein of form, Rayudu will be wary of the threat posed by Amit Mishra, as the ace spinner has got the better of him on multiple occasions in the past. Off the 67 balls that Mishra has bowled to Rayudu, the right-hander has been able to score 82 runs while he has dismissed thrice by the leggie.
Coming to former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, who has turned back the clock in sublime style to be the second highest run-getter for CSK in the league. However, he too doesn’t enjoy a good record against Mishra as the Indian spinner has dismissed him three times as well previously.
Suresh Raina has also crossed the 300-run mark this season but Mishra has dismissed him three times as well in the previous editions of the league and so the southpaw will have to be on guard against him. As far as Dhoni is concerned, he has also been dismissed once before by Mishra.
The CSK batsmen have lit up the IPL with some blazing performances this season but the star batsmen know they cannot commit the mistake of taking bottom-placed Delhi lightly at home, especially when they have Kotla King Amit Mishra in their ranks.
