Manchester City face an anxious wait to find out whether they will be hit with a transfer ban.

The Premier League champions are accused of breaching strict transfer rules over their signing of Argentine wonderkid Benjamin Garre from Velez Sarsfield in 2016.

Velez Sarsfeld reported City to FIFA, claiming they had acted unethically by approaching Garre when was still 15 and flouted transfer rules when signing him after his 16th birthday.

City were cleared of any wrongdoing by FIFA in September 2016, with football’s world governing body ruling he was free to join them when he turned 16 because he holds an Italian passport.

Velez, however, claim that FIFA rules only allow players under 18 to move between clubs in Europe and do not include South America and took their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

City maintain they have acted appropriately but, according to the Daily Mail, but there is serious concern that CAS will decide City breached transfer rules.

A spokesman for CAS has told the Mail said that a verdict on the case is expected in the next seven days.

If City are found guilty, they could be hit with a two-window transfer ban.
