Premier League relegation battle: 16 players who could get big summer transfers if their club goes down

The powerful striker may have his injury problems, but he is still a natural finisher. The fact he has scored seven Premier League goals this season in a Southampton side devoid of any confidence speaks volumes.

After it was confirmed Stoke City would be playing Championship football next season, Jack Butland wiped away his tears and slammed the club’s recruitment policy.

The England international bemoaned the signings of players who had not put enough effort into trying to help save the Potters.

Paul Lambert is not the only manager to have been let down like that this season.

The players of Swansea City, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion all find themselves in the mire at the wrong time of the season.

While Stoke are already down, West Brom have shown incredible resilience under caretaker boss Darren Moore to put on a spirited revival, not too dissimilar to the work done by Carlos Carvalhal at Swansea.

And, despite late heartache against Everton at the weekend, Mark Hughes has instilled a newfound sense of belief at the Saints.

How the bottom of the table currently looks…

But, if the worst should happen and either one of those aforementioned teams join the Potters in the Championship next season, the Premier League vultures will surely be circling menacingly over their superstar players.

So who is good enough to get a move away from their current club if they go down? talkSPORT.com has identified 16 players from the current bottom four Premier League sides who will surely be rescued from the doldrums of the English second tier in the summer.
