Steven Gerrard will take charge of Rangers at the end of the season and it promises to be an exciting summer for fans of the Ibrox club.
With backing in the transfer market, Gerrard is expected to use his Liverpool contacts to bring a host of excellent players to Glasgow.
The Anfield legend has been in charge of Liverpool’s Under-18 side this season, and he could raid the Reds’ academy for loan signings, whilst also convincing former team-mates to join him at Ibrox on permanent deals.
Gerrard is hopeful of building a team that can end Celtic’s domination of Scottish football, and it will be interesting to watch him put together his side this summer.
The 37-year-old has shown tactical flexibility while in charge of Liverpool Under-18s. He started utilising a 3-4-3 system midway through the season but began his spell in charge alternating between a 4-4-2 diamond and a 4-2-3-1 system.
Liverpool’s 4-2-3-1 from a 4-0 defeat of Sevilla compared with the 3-4-3 selected for a 2-1 victory over Man United
It would be a risky move to test the 3-4-3 from the off with Rangers, so it would be no surprise to see Gerrard stick with a flat back four in his first senior coaching role.
