IPL 2021 - Rassie van der Dussen expected to join Rajasthan Royals
South Africa's middle-order batsman Rassie van der Dussen is expected to join Rajasthan Royals as reinforcement for the English pair of Liam Livingstone & Ben Stokes. The two English players have already left the franchise due to various reasons.
It is being reported that Dussen is currently waiting for the approval of his Indian visa and if he gets there, it will be his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign.
He has previously played in the last year's Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and in the 2013 Champions League T20.
Rassie recently became the oldest Protea batsman to score an ODI century against Pakistan in the first match of the home series. He hasn't played in a lot of franchise-based T20 leagues, however; he boasts an experience of 126 T20s, scoring close to 4000 runs at 38.62. He also carries a decent strike rate of 131 in the shortest format.
Livingstone left the Royals’ camp due to bubble fatigue and Stokes left midway because of an injury. Therefore, Dussen’s addition to the Rajasthan squad will certainly stabilize the struggling middle-order of the men in pink.
Royals also lost their prime player Jofra Archer for the whole season. According to the press release by the ECB, Archer returned to bowling with higher intensity this week as England and Sussex medical panels will continue to monitor his progress.
